Most Resident Evil fans know that, in the late 90s, horror maestro and “Godfather of the Dead” George A. Romero went from directing a badass live-action commercial for Resident Evil 2 to writing a screenplay for an adaptation of the first game that went unproduced. You can read one of its many drafts, it’s gotten an unofficial comic book adaptation, it’s the subject of a 2026 documentary, and now I’ve written an unofficial novelization for it.
